Start with a proper diagnosis
The symptom isn’t always the fault. A cloudy image can come from a failed seal, a damaged objective lens or simply a dirty light cable. Before deciding anything, get the scope diagnosed. At the SCAN24 Repair Centre, diagnosis is free and you receive an estimate before any work starts.
Faults that are usually worth repairing
- Eyepiece and window damage — chipped distal windows or scratched eyepieces.
- Seal failure caught early — moisture or fogging after autoclaving, before the optics are damaged.
- Light post and fibre problems — dark spots or uneven light from localised fibre damage.
- Minor shaft dents — where the rod-lens system is still intact.
When replacement may make more sense
- Severe bends or crushed shafts that have broken the internal rod lenses.
- Repeated repairs on the same scope within a short period.
- Older optics that no longer match the image quality of a modern HD, UHD or 4K camera.
- Long downtime where waiting for parts would disrupt your lists.
Count the cost of downtime
A repair estimate is only part of the picture. Postponed procedures, borrowed equipment and frustrated surgeons all cost something. If a repair will take a while, ask for a standby scope so your OT keeps running.
If replacing: trade in, don't throw away
A scope that isn’t worth repairing still has value. SCAN24 accepts trade-ins of any brand, working or not, to reduce the cost of a new lease. Request a trade-in assessment and we’ll include a valuation with your lease options.
